Doyle Rose II
When Doyle Rose II arrived at the Rehabilitation and Critical Care Hospital of the Black Hills, he faced serious medical challenges. He was dependent on a ventilator and tracheostomy to breathe, required both IV and oral antibiotics to fight infection, and had extensive wounds. At the time, he was unable to walk or even move in bed without assistance.
But from the start, Doyle was determined to heal!
Supported by the hospital’s interdisciplinary critical care team, Doyle began his recovery journey. He successfully weaned off ventilator support, had his tracheostomy removed and healed, and saw remarkable progress in the healing of his wounds. With support from his care team, he gradually regained strength and mobility.
Doyle’s perseverance paid off. Not only did he walk out of the hospital independently, but he also climbed into his pickup truck and drove himself safely back home to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Reflecting on his progress, Doyle’s admitting nurse shared:
“It was a pleasure taking care of Doyle and being part of his successful healing journey. To see how far he’s come—from critical care to driving himself home—is truly inspiring.”
We’re honored to have been part of Doyle’s story and wish him continued success and good health on the road ahead!
