Jené Owen

Jené Owen had been independent in her daily life before she began having trouble using the left side of her body. After seeking medical care, she learned the cause was a brain tumor.

Jené underwent surgery and a hospital stay before being referred to the Rehabilitation and Critical Care Hospital of the Black Hills in Rapid City for an intensive rehabilitation program.

When she arrived, Jené had little use of her left hand, leg, and foot. Tasks that once felt automatic now required focused effort, support, and a carefully guided therapy plan.

At the Rehabilitation and Critical Care Hospital of the Black Hills, Jené worked with her care team to rebuild strength and function step by step. Her therapists helped her set meaningful goals and supported her as she worked to stand, move her leg and foot, and regain use of her hand.

With determination and the encouragement of her therapy and medical team, Jené achieved every milestone set for her.

Jené expressed deep appreciation for the entire team that cared for her during her stay. She also shared gratitude for the environmental services staff, the dietary team, and everyone who contributed to her recovery and hospital experience.

As she prepared to leave the hospital, Jené looked forward to going home and continuing the therapy routines that helped build the foundation for her progress. She described her discharge as “bittersweet.”

“I so enjoyed all who were involved in my comeback,” Jené shared. “Such an amazing community. No negative feedback. Thanks to one and all!”

Jené, it has been our honor to be part of your recovery. We wish you continued strength and success as you keep building on the progress you have made!
