Robert Reynolds

Living with Parkinson’s disease, Robert Reynolds knows what it means to work through challenges. He already needed quite a bit of help with daily activities. So, when he began feeling lightheaded, falling, and fainting, it became clear that he needed additional care to help him move forward safely.

After a traditional hospital stay to address his new symptoms, Robert chose the Rehabilitation and Critical Care Hospital of the Black Hills in Rapid City because he felt it was the right place to help him recover. He was referred for an intensive rehabilitation program focused on improving his strength, movement, safety, and independence.

Robert worked closely with his care team to manage his medical needs and build on his abilities. His therapists focused not only on strength, but also on helping him move more safely and effectively during everyday tasks. Through encouragement, repetition, and specific instruction, Robert practiced the skills he would need to continue caring for himself after being discharged.

Robert made great progress. He shared special appreciation for several members of his care team, including Randy, John, Mitch, and Sam. He added that their individualized guidance helped him gain confidence and prepare for the next step in his recovery.

As Robert prepared to leave the hospital, he looked forward to taking care of himself and continuing to work on everything he had learned during his stay!

When Jené began having trouble using the left side of her body, she learned the cause was a brain tumor. Jené underwent surgery and a hospital stay before being referred to the Rehabilitation and Critical Care Hospital of the Black Hills in Rapid City for an intensive rehabilitation program.
